About OUCE

In 2009 the OpenNMS User Conference Europe was held for the first time.

At that time it was the first meeting purely aimed at the user community and the first OpenNMS Project Event in Europe.

The OpenNMS User Conference Europe 2012 was the fourth instance of the annual conference (the foto on the left shows the participants).
The attendees gave an overall positive feedback about the Best Practice Day on the first and the barcamp-style day with hands-on workshops on the second day.

New in 2012
For the first time there were two days of intensive OpenNMS training offered ahead the conference. On May 8th a training covering OpenNMS basics, on May 9th the advanced training took place, building on the first day. About 30 participants had useful talks and productive classes on how to work with OpenNMS.

Networking

After the first conference day an evening event was held with complimentary dinner and drinks at the traditional brewery "Wiesenmühle". This allowed participants to have some leisure time to exchange experiences as well as social networking in a relaxed atmosphere.

Topics

The conference mainly consists of presentations demonstrating how OpenNMS can be used to solve complex, real world problems.

It focuses on both new and advanced features of OpenNMS, and is of the most benefit for those people who are already somewhat familiar with the applications, although people of all skill levels are welcome.

Every year the attendees determine what they want to see: The Call for Papers makes sure that everyone gets the most out of their OpenNMS experience.

For example, in 2012 the following topics were covered:

  • Maps

  • Rancid Integration

  • Trouble Ticket Integration

  • Event forwarding

  • Reporting with Jasper Report

  • Layer-2 Port status monitoring

  • Remote Execution, Extending OpenNMS with Scripts
